Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Wednesday said that good civil-military relations enable the country’s development.
The former army officer was addressing student officers of the Indian Armed Forces and military officers from 27 countries at the Defense Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, Tamil Nadu.
Good civil-military relations promote security and peace in the country.
It enables the development of a nation and leads to the welfare of the people which is the ultimate goal of a democratic state like India,” an official statement issued here quoted the governor as saying.
The governor said that now is the time for India to upgrade civil-military relations to civil-military fusion.
He suggested that improving civil-military relations should be an integral part of the national defense policy.
He urged the cadet officers of the Indian Armed Forces to imbibe five traits: observant eyes, perceptive mind, determination, innovativeness and tenacity, and six attributes: transparency, accountability, integrity, equitable management, self-audit and moderation. Course correction. if needed.
The statement added that 450 armed forces officers participated in the programme, including 70 officers from other countries.
