GMC elections: PM Modi thanks voters for giving ‘strong mandate’ to BJP
In a congratulatory message, Prime Minister Modi thanked the people of Guwahati for giving the BJP a strong mandate to move forward on the development agenda. On Sunday, the ruling BJP-led coalition won 60 seats. After getting a clean sweep in Wali Guwahati Municipal Corporation. (GMC) Elections.
On Twitter, Prime Minister Modi said that the people of this ‘beautiful city’ have blessed the hard work of the Assam government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Prime Minister also congratulated Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and thanked all the BJP workers for their hard work.
Responding to Prime Minister Modi’s message of victory, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Prime Minister Modi for his good wishes and blessings. Sarma said the victory was the result of the Prime Minister’s “astonishing vision” and strong development initiatives in the Northeast.
On Twitter, Chief Minister Sarma also thanked the people of Guwahati for giving the BJP and its ally a historic victory in the GMC elections. Sarma said that with this big mandate, the people have reaffirmed their confidence in the BJP’s development journey under the guidance of the Prime Minister.
Out of the total 60 wards of GMC, Saffron Party has won 52 seats while its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has won 6 wards. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Asum Jatiya Parishad (AJP) won one seat each. The Congress, however, failed to win any seat in the Guwahati local body elections.
