Agartala: Tripura BJP general secretary and Nalchar MLA Kishore Barman on Monday resigned from the party post in line with its ‘one man, one post’ principle.
Barman, who had been involved in organizational work in West Bengal for a long time, was made the party general secretary for Tripura in July 2021.
“For the last two years, I have been working as general secretary to strengthen the organization. In the February assembly elections, I contested and won from Nalchar constituency. This was possible because of the support of the party and the blessings of the people,” he wrote to BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee.
“As the party upholds the principle of ‘one man, one post’, it would not be wise for me to hold two posts. Therefore, as a soldier of the party, I want to step down as general secretary,” he said.
“I think it is the right time to leave the party post and focus on the welfare of the people who have elected me,” he said.
