New Delhi: Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has directed the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to extend the NHID from Chongkham on National Highway-15 in Arunachal Pradesh to Brahmakund (Parsuram Kund). To be handed over to CL.

He also asked the National Highways and Infrastructure Development (NHIDCL) to start construction work on the said section of the road immediately after completion of the handover process.
The instructions from the Union Minister came after a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna , who had met the former chief minister on Tuesday in connection with the road construction.

Part of NH-15 road from Chowkham to Brahmakund in three districts –
Connects Namsai, Lohit and Anjaw to the Tibetan border. The road was previously under BRO but was transferred to NHIDCL on July 7, 2021.
The road has yet to be formally handed over and as a result construction work has been halted and neither BRO nor NHIDCL has maintained it.

Part of the road is in a very dilapidated condition which is causing difficulties to the commuters.

Upon receiving the report, Gadkari asked NHIDCL to repair the road before starting construction work.
