From March 1-3 Mizoram to host G20 meeting in Aizawl

Aizawl: Mizoram will host the G20 summit here from March 1 to 3, where business delegates and diplomats from across the world are expected to attend, Chief Minister Zoramthanga said on Tuesday.

Around 85 local start-ups will also participate in the event at Mizoram University (MZU) in western suburbs of Aizawl, he said.
“The G20 summit will bring together many policy makers, business leaders along with representatives of multilateral organizations,” Zoramthanga said at a press conference here.

The Chief Minister said that 48 business delegates and 17 diplomats from 17 countries including America, Germany, China, France and Japan will participate in the meeting.
He said the event would focus on business partnership opportunities in areas such as urban planning, infrastructure, start-ups, skill development, handlooms and handicrafts.

Zoramthanga said the G20 summit would provide a platform to showcase Mizoram as a prime investment destination, besides giving delegates an opportunity to delve into the state’s culture, heritage and tourism potential.

As part of the programme, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will facilitate business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings, he added.

India formally assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 last year.
