Kamrup: Continuing its drive against the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), the Assam Police on May 17 arrested another member from Nagarbera area of Kamrup district.
The arrested PFI member has been identified as Abdul Razzaq Ali.
Speaking to the media, Nagarbera police station in-charge Mirel Ahmed said that Abdul Razzaq Ali was absconding for a long time and the police caught him from his residence in Polahartari area.
“Last night we conducted an operation and caught PFI member Abdul Razzaq All and today we arrested him. Our action against PFI will continue. He was absconding since September last year,” Mirel Ahmed said.
The police officer added that few other members of PFI are still active in Nagarbera area and police are conducting operations to nab them.
In early April, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a massive search operation targeting the banned radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) at multiple locations spread across four states.
A total of 12 locations in Bihar, two locations in Uttar Pradesh and one each in Ludhiana and Goa in Punjab were raided by NIA teams.
Notably, the Assam Police arrested three alleged members of the Al-Qaeda-linked Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in the state’s Dhubri district on April 24 during a search operation.
