Agartala: The four-day monsoon session of the Tripura Assembly will begin on July 7, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen said on Sunday.
He said that Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Royi will present the budget for the current financial year on the first day of the monsoon session.
Sen said that though the budget session was held in March, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy could not present the budget for the financial year 2023-24 due to assembly elections in February and March.
“The four-day monsoon session of the state assembly begins on July 7 and the finance minister will present the budget for the current financial year on its inaugural day,” Sen told PTI.
“Initially, it was planned that the monsoon session of the Assembly would be held for three days but the opposition parties demanded a five-day session. Respecting the opposition’s view, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) on Saturday Agreed to make it four days in its meeting, he said.
The Speaker said two bills – Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Tripura Definition – would be tabled in the session.
