Tura: For the first time in a while, no one from the Garo Hills region made it to the top rankers in the just-declared HSSLC exam results.
The results of science and commerce streams were declared on Tuesday in which a total of 3635 appeared in the state and 2866 students cleared the exam with an average pass percentage of 78.84 in the science stream.
A total of 2383 students appeared for commerce stream out of which 1890 passed with a ratio of 79.31.
The best-performing district in the commerce stream was East Garo Hills, which actually topped the state in terms of percentage, though only 67 students out of a total of 70 passed.
Next best in the same sequence was West Garo Hills, which saw an overall pass ratio of 66.14 against 168 out of 254 students who passed. North Garo Hills saw 21 out of 50 students pass. No students appeared from South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills.
For science stream, a total of 595 students appeared in WGH while 405 passed with 68.07 percent. Similarly, 53 out of 101 appeared in EGH while 10 out of 13 in SGH, 39 out of 67 in NGH and 18 out of 20 in NGH.
Overall, 525 passed out of a total of 796 in the science stream from Garo Hills. The cumulative effect of the figure shows that only 20.17% was contributed to GH in the state.
There were 254 candidates in commerce stream out of which 168 passed from WGH while 67 out of 70 passed in EGH and 21 out of 50 passed in NGH. Two districts did not record any students from commerce stream.
