
From Dibrugarh ULFA (I) Freedom fighter arrested by Police
Dibrugarh: The Indian Army arrested a cadre and a linkman of the ULFA (I) outfit in Dibrugarh on Sunday in a joint operation with the Assam Police.
The operation was carried out by the Spare Corps Warriors on a specific input about the movement of a suspected cadre with weapons in Phaltutola area under Joypur Police Station of Dibrugarh District, Assam.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Yasin Khan (31), a resident of Jagun village in Naharkatia and is related to Bintu Sharma (33).
A 7.62 mm pistol with 4 rounds was also recovered from their possession.
During preliminary interrogation, both the arrested persons admitted to having links with the ULFA (I) outfit.
They have been handed over to the police for further investigation, an army official said.
Ulf-I linkman and sympathizers are trying to recruit youths from rural areas of upper Assam, sources said.
