Manipur: Amidst Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur, fresh firing was reported in the border villages of Bishnupur and Churachadpur on May 31.
According to reports, some were injured in the firing at Tangjing along the Bishnupur-Churachadpur border.
Earlier on May 24, one person died of gunshot wounds and another injured in Thamnapok area under Bishnupur district when suspected militants opened fire from a hillside in Thamnapokpi under Bishnupur district this morning.
Addressing the media at a press conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Kuldiep Singh, security advisor to the Manipur government, said that on May 24 around 12 am, the suspected armed militants came down the hill towards Molngat foothill or Tronglaobi under Phougakchao Ikhai police station. had come Bishnupur Dist. They had almost burned down three abandoned houses.
In response, some houses belonging to other communities were burnt down in the nearby villages of Phougakchao, Tronglaobi, Phaijangvai. Those houses have already been destroyed or partially burnt.
