Assam: Four ACS officers suspended in Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan’s Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund scam will appear before CM Special Vigilance in Assam on Tuesday.
Sources said that ACS officers have been directed to appear before CM Vigilance for questioning in the MPLAD fund scam case from today.
On March 18, ACS officers were suspended in connection with the fund scam in Assam.
According to sources, funds were allocated from the MPLAD fund of MP Bhuyan for the construction of the road in Barpeta, Assam. However, the bill was issued without completing 75% of the work.
The scam came to light when the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell conducted an investigation where it was found that four suspended officers had signed the bill before 75 percent of the road construction work was completed.
The four ACS officers suspended are as follows.
Home and Political Department, Assam, Secretary Sharmistha Borah
Kamrup Metropolitan Additional Commissioner Sukanya Borah, Hemanta Kumar Dutta
Tinsukia Zilla Parishad CEO Munindra Bordoloi
MP Construction Fund Committee was chaired by Additional Commissioner of Kamrup Sukanya Bora.
It should be noted that there is an amount of one billion rupees for this. For the construction of three roads in Barpeta, an amount of Rs 28 lakh was allocated from the MPLAD fund of Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan.
However, these three roads were not constructed and the allocated funds were withdrawn by submitting fake road construction bills.
In this regard, the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell suspended four officers who resorted to corruption and irregularities while investigating the allegations.
