Four person arrested with stock of arms in Aizawl,Mizoram

Aizawl: Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police forces have arrested four people with a large stock of rams in Aizawl in a joint operation, officials said.

Acting on specific information, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police’s CID (Special Branch) recovered the weapon at Hmuifang in Aizawl district, 53 km east of Aizawl, on Sunday, Assam Rifles said in a statement on Monday. and recovered ammunition.
He said that four persons have been arrested in connection with the recovery.

He said the recovered arms and ammunition included two Chinese-made 22 AK automatic rifles, four rounds of .22 ammunition (Point 22 ammunition) and two magazines.
The four accused along with the recovered weapons have been handed over to the state police for further legal action, the statement said.

The Assam Rifles claimed that the recovery prevented the loss of precious lives.
It said that the ongoing arms smuggling is a major cause of concern for Mizoram.
