Former deferred youth Congress president Angkita Dutta joins BJP
Guwahati: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam welcomed a group of “key leaders” on Sunday.
Former Congress MLA Bismita Gogoi, former All Assam Students Union (AASU) president Dipanka Kumar Nath and former Assam Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta have officially joined the BJP.
Soon after joining the BJP, Bismita Gogoi criticized the leadership of her former party (Congress), claiming that “Congress can never come to power in the next 100 years in their current direction”.
He further alleged personal abuse within the party, accusing them of failing to “provide justice” to Dutta and that he was “mentally harassed.”
Speaking on similar lines, Dipanka Nath credited her past activism with the AASU for securing “many” demands from students.
He also praised the BJP’s claim that the party is committed to transparent, merit-based job distribution, in contrast to the Congress’s alleged past of “selling jobs for money”.
Dutta also took a dig at the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress, lamenting its failure to address their concerns during the Bharat Jodo Yatra despite a ten-month wait.
