For wining bronze in Asian wrestling Nagaland felicitated female

KOHIMA: The Nagaland Wrestling Association on Thursday felicitated female wrestler Vekhonielü Cürhah who won a bronze medal in the 55 kg women’s classic style category at the recently concluded United World Wrestling (UWW) Asian Belt Wrestling Championship. It was held inJizzakh, Uzbekistan.
The female wrestler represented the country in three styles, including Women’s Classic Style, Women’s Freestyle and Women’s Qazak Kuresi, all in the 55 kg category.
During a function held at the Talimeren Hall of the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) in Kohima, Youth Resource and Sports Adviser, S Keoshu Yimkhiung praised Cürhah for achieving the new feat.

He said that Nagas have been gifted in sports by blood and nature and that sports have been an integral part of Naga culture since ancient times.
Although sport is a culture, athletes do not practice enough. He observed that this was one of the reasons that held people back from further development. He emphasized the importance and importance of dedication and practice which will help the players to develop.
He lauded the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) for playing the role of hardworking parents in nurturing athletes in the state. The lawmaker then assured of the government’s full support for nurturing talented and hardworking sportspersons.
NWA President, Dr. Hayabe Zeliang said now is the time to prepare young boys and girls to reach a level where they are able to compete at all levels.

The program was presided over by General Secretary, NWA, Vilekho Bio, Prayer of thanks was offered by Evangelist, Zion Mission Church Nagabazar, Thüyiesayi Swüro. A special number of Eating Lam was presented.
