For Unity Marathon2023 organized at Girijananda Chowdhary Univ.

“Marathon 2023: For Unity and Empowerment” was organized by Girijananda Chowdhary University on 1 March 2023 as a build-up program for the University’s annual festival “Euphuism 2023”.

Sponsored by Decathlon Azara, the marathon run was organized to promote the need for unity and harmony for social empowerment.
The race also aspired to promote athletic spirit among the students and staff of the university and the society at large. The marathon was flagged off from the Girijananda Chowdhary University campus in Azara at 06:10 am by Jashodaranjan Das, President of Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society, Guwahati.
Participating runners covered a distance of about 14 km, taking the scenic route from the campus to VIP Chowk and returning to the campus via Dharapur.
Around 400 runners participated in the exciting marathon event, including university students, faculty members and staff as well as competitors from outside the university.
After the end of the marathon, Jashodaranjan Das, University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kandarpa Das and University Registrar Prof. T. Nath awarded prizes to the winners. Medals, cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the first, second and third position winners in various categories.
Rohit Gurung and Yaisana Sorokhaibam were adjudged first prize winners in the boys and girls categories of GCU students respectively.
Among the faculty members and staff, Assistant Professor Faruk Ahmed of Management Department and Staff Member Sarada Das bagged the first position in male and female category respectively.
Also, among the non-university runners, Sabia Sobor bagged the first prize in the women’s category, and Bijoy Deka was awarded the first position in the men’s category. Participation certificates were distributed to all the runners.
