Tripura:The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has imposed Section 144 CrPC from 10 pm on February 13 which will continue till 6 am on February 17.
Speaking at a press conference, CEO Kiran Gitte said, “We have taken various steps on law and order issues. Around 100 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) arrived before December while Another 100 companies arrived before the announcement of the election and after January 18 more than 200 companies arrived which we have deployed across the state along with more than 20,000 police and TSR”.
However, he claimed that this time the number of incidents is less than in 2018 as around 309 cases were registered in the 2018 assembly elections as against only 100 cases till February 11 this year.
“We don’t want violence and that’s why the number of cases registered is very low. We have also allowed 800 events and campaigns per day. However, the campaign will continue till 4 pm. Border Roundabout, Hawaii There were some sporadic incidents in places like Adhe area, Khayerpur, Belonia, and Sepahijala district. However, no major incident occurred due to the deployment of force”, Gitte said.
Gitte told reporters that the CEO will be on vigil under Section 144 CrPC from 10 pm tonight to 6 am tomorrow.
“Then Section 144 will continue from 10 pm on 14th to 6 am on 17th. We are allowing door-to-door visits with only four people but no bike rallies,” Gitte added.
