
For stated arms robbery 3 Manipur Kuki refugees held from Assam
Silchar: Assam Police has arrested three Kuki refugees from violence-torn Manipur for alleged armed robberies in Cachar district.
The three Kuki refugees from Manipur, who have been arrested by the Assam Police, have been identified as Dimngel Lalboi Michael, Paojalen Dimngel and Thangboi Dimngel.
All three belonged to Saijong and Paohao villages in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
Three Kuki refugees from Manipur were arrested by the police in Assam’s Cachar district when they were traveling in a Mizoram-registered car.
Additional SP of Assam’s Cachar district – Subrata Sen said: “During the last two months, they (the three Kuki refugees from Manipur) looted shops and petrol pumps.”
Apart from this, the police also recovered two firearms and ammunition from the possession of the three arrested persons.
A case has been registered against the three arrested persons under sections 392 (robbery) and 397 (attempt to cause death or grievous hurt during robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
