Imphal: The Manipur Cabinet, which held a meeting on Tuesday, has announced an additional sum of Rs 50 lakh to the family of Moreh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Chingtham Anand.
Anand was allegedly shot dead by Kuki militants in an ambush in Tengnoupal district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, a resident of Haobam Marak area of Imphal, was hit by a sniper’s bullet in Moreh while he was supervising the preparation of the ground at Eastern Shine School for the construction of a helicopter.
After the attack, the victim was taken to the primary health center in Moreh, but succumbed to his injuries.
The state cabinet has also decided to give government jobs to the bereaved family members of the policeman.
