Guwahati: Assam’s opposition party All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on its MLA Nijam Uddin Choudhury during a recent event, allegedly referred to a senior BJP minister as “our man”. A show cause notice has been issued on the mention.
A notice issued by AIUDF general secretary Hafiz Bashir Ahmed on Saturday asked the Algapur constituency MLA to explain his statement within seven days.
“It has come to our notice that you made a public statement praising Minister Sri Pijush Hazarika that he is our man and we are his man, which has gone viral on social media on May 3, 2023”.
Ahmed said such statements by Choudhary went against the principles and status of the AIUDF, tarnishing the party’s image and creating “serious controversies” in the political environment.
He said in the notice that such words are also serious misconduct and may be subject to disciplinary action.
Hazarika holds various portfolios including parliamentary affairs, water resources and information and public relations. He is also the spokesperson of the BJP-led coalition government of Assam.
