Aizawl: A special court in Mizoram’s Champhai has sentenced a 30-year-old man to 20 years in prison for molesting a minor.
Special Judge POCSO Act Sylvie Zomuanpuii Ralte on Saturday convicted Vanhreluaia and sentenced him to 20 years rigorous imprisonment.
The special judge also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict and in default he will have to undergo another 2 years imprisonment.
Vanhreluaia took a 5-year-old girl out of her house and sexually assaulted her in Champai.
The incident took place in 2019 in an area of โโChamphai town in eastern Mizoram near the Myanmar border.
The girl’s friends lodged a complaint with the police, after which Vanhreluaia was arrested.
