Shillong: 40 companies of the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) have arrived in Meghalaya for election duty in the state.
Meghalaya Chief Election Officer (CEO) FR Kharkangur informed this.
A total of 120 CAPF companies have been allotted for election-related duties in the northeastern state of Meghalaya.
The Meghalaya CEO said that the remaining 80 CAPF companies will reach the state after polling in Tripura ends on February 16.
Notably, polling for the 60-member Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 27.
Counting of votes will take place on March 2.
