For lawful solution to Indigneous people,Tipra Motha calls for bandh
Agartala: In a decisive move to pressure the Indian government for a constitutional solution for the indigenous people of Tripura, Tipra Motha, the state’s main opposition political party, has announced a one-day complete bandh.
The decision was taken after a strategic meeting between party leaders, during which they stressed the need for sustained pressure on the Government of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs to address the concerns of the indigenous population of the state.
Speaking to presspersons, former Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said that “Achieving a Tripura Shrestha Tripura is not possible unless the local population is uplifted.
“We have had a meeting with our leaders about our next course of action, and we have decided to call a one-day shutdown.
We have also discussed the time and place of this shutdown. Our demand is not against any community but the local people of the state.
Although the Government of India and the Home Ministry have shown positivity, we must keep up the pressure on them to take us seriously,” said Pradyot, who is also a member of Tripura’s royal family.
He appealed to all local people associated with Tipra Motha as well as others to come forward in support of the bandh.
I say ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’ cannot be achieved unless the local population is uplifted. The promises made by BJP have not been fulfilled. I am working for the betterment of my community and for our future generations. Pradyot added.
