
For Durga Puja limitations declared on traffic movement in Assam
Guwahati: Traffic police in Guwahati today issued a notification announcing restrictions on traffic movement in some parts of the city during Durga Puja.
These restrictions will come into force from October 21 and will remain in force till October 24.
The notification states that vehicles carrying goods will be allowed to enter the city from 4 am to 10 am during the said period.
There will be a ban on plying of six-wheeler and above goods carrying commercial vehicles on National Highway No. 27 and National Highway No. 17 from 11 AM to 12 PM.
Meanwhile, the ban on vehicular movement has also been imposed in Dispur, Basistha, Bharalumukh, Jalukbari, Panbazar, Chandmari and Noonmati areas for the said period.
Meanwhile, traffic police have also ordered restrictions on movement on several city roads due to huge crowds coming out during the Durga Puja festivities.
Apart from these, it was also announced that commercial vehicles, especially those with All Assam Tourist Permits, coming from Lower Assam, would be stopped at Adabari Bus Terminus during the puja period.
Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Upper Assam will be allowed up to ISBT Betkuchi.
ASTC undertaking buses coming towards Paltan Bazar from Lower Assam will not be allowed to enter from Jalukbari and will be diverted towards ISBT.
