Nalbari (Assam): An inspector, currently absconding, has been suspended for allegedly raping a girl and taking “objectionable photographs” of her inside a police station in Assam’s Nalbari district. It has been done, a senior official said on Thursday.

A 17-year-old girl on Monday filed a police complaint against an officer of the Ghograpar police station, alleging that she was molested and had objectionable photographs taken inside the police station.
The girl and a man were detained on June 21 in a case of child marriage.
Director General of Police GP Singh said in a tweet on Thursday that the inspector is the prime suspect in the case and is currently absconding.
“Anyone who provides information about his whereabouts to SP Nalbari police will be given a suitable reward,” he said.
A case has been registered at the Nalbari police station under the IPC section under the Prevention of Child Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 (POCSO) for insulting a woman with intent to wrongfully imprison a person. has been read several times. of children for obscene purposes.

The DGP said Central Western Range DIG Brajenjit Singha has been asked to visit the district and submit a first-hand report by Thursday.
“There is CCTV coverage in the police station. If (the allegation) is found to be true, strictest legal action will be taken,” he added.
Nalbari Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh told reporters that the CCTV footage of the police station has been collected and a team of experts is examining it.
The SP admitted that the police violated rules by keeping a girl in the police station overnight when she should have been sent to a government home for overnight stay.
