For accusing Arambai Tenggol of clashes, Ex- ASP house smashed
Imphal: A group in Imphal West, the house of former Manipur ASP Thounaojam Brinda, has become the epicenter of unrest with an angry Meira Paibi mob causing havoc and rising tensions. An angry mob gathered outside Brinda’s house, expressed their displeasure and issued a stern ultimatum.
The Torbang United Club (TUC) has taken a strong stand demanding an explanation and a public apology from the former ASP of Manipur by 12 am tomorrow.
Brinda has been charged with framing the charges against Arambai Tenggol and is alleged to have planned to burn down abandoned houses and properties in areas under Torbang Gram panchayat on May 3, the day the violence erupted in Manipur.
The controversy revolves around a viral audio clip in which Brinda, in a conversation with a man she calls her uncle, makes serious allegations against Arambai Tenggol, further labeled as the group is a private militia linked to Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
However, the authenticity of the audio clip, as well as the exact date and time of the conversation, is undetermined.
Furious residents of Torbung Bangla have issued a two-day ultimatum to Brenda, demanding she retract her statements and issue a public apology to the community.
Ultimatum, due to recent events, Brenda needs to apologize by 12am tomorrow. Failing to comply, the ultimatum stipulates that Brinda must vacate her residence.
The uproar stems from Brenda’s allegations, made in the aforementioned audio clip, linking Arambai Tangol to the May 3 burning of houses in Torbung Bangla.
Despite the heightened tension and seriousness of the situation, Brinda has yet to apologize or retract her statements.
