
For a flood-resilient state, CM Assam reviews development project
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to provide an update on his day’s activities, which included setting up a second museum in Assam, selecting sites for ten new colleges, and flood relief.
A comprehensive review of 54 projects was included. The estimated cost of which is Rs 450 crore.
In a tweet posted on his official Twitter account, Chief Minister Sarma said, “On work today: Discussed the progress of another museum in Assam, reviewed sites for 10 new colleges, and ₹ 450 crore worth A review of the progress of 54 flood protection projects.
Completion of these 100+ km embankments will take us closer to a flood-free Assam.
Assam’s second museum is expected to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Apart from the museum project, the chief minister’s review of ten new college sites shows the state government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities for its citizens.
However, one of the most important aspects of Chief Minister Sarma’s day’s work was the comprehensive review of 54 flood control projects.
Assam faces recurring challenges due to annual floods, which cause considerable loss of life, property and infrastructure.
