ILP implementation: Khasi students' union tells Meghalaya govt
Khasi Students’ Union
Shillong: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has asked the Meghalaya government to focus on implementing the Internal Line Permit (ILP) system instead of expanding the railway network in the state.
The KSU has asked the Meghalaya government to put pressure on the central government for early implementation of the ILP system in the state.
Claiming that the influx of illegal immigrants has increased in Meghalaya, the KSU said running trains without the ILP system would add to the problem.
The KSU has asked the Meghalaya government not to take up the issue of expansion of the railway network in the state before the implementation of the ILP in the state.
Notably, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had recently said that the state government would sit down to discuss people’s concerns over railway expansion.
However, the KSU has made it clear that it will not sit for any talks with the Meghalaya government until the ILP system is implemented in the state.
“We will not sit for any talks with the Meghalaya government until the ILP system is implemented in the state,” said KSU president Limbok Star Maringar.
