The flood situation in the northeast worsened on Friday as rains for the fourth day in a row pushed parts of the region, causing major rivers to overflow, officials said.
A bulletin from the state’s Disaster Management Authority said nine more people, including two children, were killed in rain-related incidents in Assam, bringing the death toll from floods and landslides to 55 this year.
The situation is not much better in Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, where landslides have damaged roads and inundated villages on a large scale.
