Manipur: The Peace and Relief Committee of Sangjami Assembly Constituency (PRECOM) on Saturday raided the house of Mahood Minister Yumnam Khemchand and handed over a five-point memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh regarding the ongoing communal clashes.
The five-point memorandum is: Revoke the suspension of operations (SoO) with Kuki militants for violating the laws of the land. to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur; Implementation of NRC in Manipur; Condemn Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s statement; and restore communal peace, harmony and normalcy in Manipur.
Mahood Minister Yumnam Khemchand told the protesters that many people across the state are suffering due to the ongoing communal conflict. It will take time to control and normalize the situation. But the government will not tolerate these illegal organizations that are involved in the conflict.
He added that thousands of stranded people have been shifted to safer places with the help of central paramilitary forces and state forces.
The state government is alert to the current situation in Manipur, he said, adding that he will discuss with the Chief Minister of Manipur what steps can be taken to maintain peace and against illegal organizations involved in communal clashes to bring harmony in Manipur.
