Five Congress women workers injured in mock bomb rushing

Imphal: Police on Thursday afternoon staged a major clash and hurled a mock bomb at the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) gate to disperse the protestors.

At least five women volunteers of MPCC Sevadal were injured in the clashes after which the fake bomb exploded.
Clashes erupted when a large number of police personnel pushed Congress workers back from the historic Kangla West Gate, Imphal, where they were holding a candlelight protest in solidarity with party leader Rahul Gandhi, who was recently assassinated. Was disqualified from MP.

The solidarity peace march for a distance of about 100 meters from Congress Bhawan to Kangla Gate was peaceful in the initial phase.
But it turned violent when a candle lit by Congress workers was blown up by a policeman.

After that, a huge clash started between the police and the Congress workers.
A police official said that with the enforcement of the policemen, the protesters were sent back inside the Congress gate where violent clashes broke out between the two, prompting the police to throw fake bombs.

The injured protestors were shifted to a nearby hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.

Holding the banner ‘Democracy in danger’, the protesters chanted slogans of ‘Prime Minister Modi Murdabad’ and ‘Rahul Gandhi long live’.
MPCC vice-president L Tilotama Devi, who led the solidarity march, later strongly condemned the police brutality.

He said that BJP will not be able to suppress the voice of Congress by speaking the truth and raising its voice against all difficulties.

Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress President N Popilal also expressed his observation that the upcoming 2024 MP elections will be the end of BJP in India.
