First medical college in Nagaland initiated by union health minister

Kohima: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today inaugurated the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) at Phreibagei in Kohima, a major milestone in the health care sector of Nagaland.
NIMSR, the state’s first medical college, has been approved by the National Medical Commission to admit 100 students for the academic year 2023-2024.
The first batch of 100 MBBS students will have 85 seats from Nagaland and 15 seats from All India quota. NIMSR, also known as Kohima Medical College, is expected to significantly impact the future of medical education and healthcare in the region.
The college, which is affiliated to Nagaland University, received the Letter of Permission (LOP) for 100 MBBS seats from the National Medical Commission on April 25, 2023.
