Film on Assam's tea worker 'Mini' trailer released in Mumbai

New Delhi: Popular filmmaker Arunjit Borah, known for his critically acclaimed films including ‘Midnight Song’ and ‘Taxi’, launched his upcoming film ‘Mini’ at a star-studded event in Mumbai. The trailer was unveiled. The film focuses on the hardships and challenges of Assam’s tea workers and its release coincides with the celebrations of 200 years of Assam’s tea industry.
The gripping story describes how laborers are denied many human rights such as proper education and land rights. The film is shot in Assamese and Sadri, the language spoken by the Chai tribe of Assam.
“Every person on this earth starts their day with a cup of tea – some find energy from it, some feel awakened by it. The effort and hard work that goes into making this tea is indescribable. This film Mini talks about the hardships and challenges a tea worker goes through in his life – how despite being an integral part of the community, they are denied every basic human right,” producer and actor Pankaj Mahanta said.
The film is produced by Assamese actor Pankaj Mahanta of PM Associates and written by Borah himself. It stars Urmila Mahanta, Balaram Das, Dhananjay Debnath, Naba Mahanta and Pankaj Mahanta in prominent roles.
Mini’ was shot by the young and dynamic cameraman Aniruddha Baruah and edited by Rantu Chetia. Sound designing and mixing has been done by Debojit Changmai and Amrit Pritam, while the background music score has been composed by National Award winner Tarali Sharma.
