Imphal: In a fresh wave of unrest, violent clashes broke out on July 16 at the border between Bishnupur and Churachandpur in Manipur.
Escalating tensions led to a gun battle and resulted in the burning of Tangbuh village.
The encounter reportedly took place near Tinkai Kholen near Bishnupur district. Adding to the ongoing unrest, women protesters allegedly set ablaze three trucks loaded with LPG cylinders owned by a Kuki zo tribal in Sekmai village of Imphal West on July 15.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) strongly condemned the acts of violence and expressed concern over the indignity to life and property in the region.
