Failing to bring peace, attack on churches NIPF slams Manipur govt
Kohima: The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) in its meeting on June 8 strongly condemned the burning of villages and churches and the inaction of the Center and the Manipur government to control the violence and bring the situation back to normal.
The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum, through its media cell, expressed shock that instead of controlling the situation, state uniformed personnel were “seen leading mobs behind people in black” and attacking settlements of other communities here. Till when Section 144 and 355 of IPC were enacted in the state of Manipur.
In this regard, NIPF has questioned the Manipur government and the Center as to why the violent situation in Manipur went out of control and why the mob was allowed to occupy the roads and streets. NIPF pointed out that even a seven-year-old boy (in need of medical treatment) was burnt alive in the ambulance he was traveling in with his mother and aunt in the presence of state security personnel.
The NIPF also expressed shock over the Prime Minister’s silence on the Manipur violence, which has been raging for over a month. Is this the new India they are talking about? Is this the vision of the Chief Minister of Manipur in his Mission ‘Go to Hills’ programme? NIPF questioned.
Meanwhile, NIPF has expressed its condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured in the violence.
