Extensive rains likely in northeastern regions till April 17: IMD

Guwahati: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains and thundershowers at some places in northeastern Assam-Meghalaya.

According to IMD, 190 mm of rain has fallen in Haflong of Assam and 120 mm in Cherrapunji of Meghalaya in the last few days.

It continued to rain and / or thundershowers at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura and Tamil Nadu in North East, Puducherry and Karaikal, coastal Karnataka and Odisha.

From the Bay of Bengal to the northeastern states on the lower tropospheric surface under the influence of strong southwesterly winds, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya and in the northeast Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura with thunder showers with rain or thunderstorms. Or heavy rain is expected. Over the next five days.

The IMD said that Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya in the northeast are likely to receive more than isolated heavy rains till April 17 and isolated heavy rains are likely in Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura on April 17.

In the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Haflong received 190 mm of rain and Assam’s Cherrapunji and Silchar received 120 mm of rain.
