EVM tampering reported in Sonitpur as Lok Sabha polling begins
Guwahati: An instance of EVM tampering has come to light in Assam’s Sonitpur constituency where the BJP symbol was covered with white paper, possibly to mislead voters.
Reports suggest that some unidentified persons tampered with the EVM by applying glue to affix white paper on the BJP symbol, causing the glue to fall down, impacting other buttons and resulting in complete failure. An error occurred.
After this revelation, a circle officer was sent to investigate the matter, as a result of which the voting process was temporarily stopped.
Additionally, there have been several incidents of EVM malfunctions in polling booths in all the five Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam.
