Kohima: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) and the Eastern Naga National Worker’s Forum (ENNWF) have resolved and reaffirmed the December 18, 2007 Tuensang summit resolution, declaring the entire Eastern jurisdiction as a “peace zone.”
The reaffirmation was unanimously adopted during a joint consultative and coordination meeting of the two organisations at the CKS Hall, Tuensang, on November 13, informed a statement issued by the ENPO.
The December 18, 2007 Tuensang summit resolution stated, “There should be no bloodshed, threat, intimidation, or any form of violence within Eastern Jurisdiction. The ENPO shall not extend any public cooperation to any group(s) for non-compliance of the above resolution.”
The November 13 reaffirmation also resolves to cover all its citizens beyond its jurisdiction and further appeals to all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to strictly adhere to and comply with this historic resolution and reaffirmation, added the statement.
The resolution was earlier adopted during the ENPO’s Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting held on November 12.
At the CEC meeting, the House also resolved to appeal to all NPGs to uphold ceasefire ground rules in spirit within Eastern jurisdiction and sincerely pursue solution to the decades-old Naga struggle/cause through peace talks and negotiation.
It further resolved that the ENPO office “may act as a mediator in the event that any NPG(s) appeal/request the ENPO for peace negotiations with the Government of India.”
“The ENPO shall continue to strive in mainstreaming all NPGs to the negotiating table towards an early Naga Political solution,” it added.
The ENPO also reiterated its earlier stance of “unity first” and resolved to appeal to all NPGs to “unite under one unified umbrella” for an amicable Naga solution that is honourable, inclusive, and acceptable.
The House also discouraged the mushrooming of numerous breakaway groups within NPGs, the statement added.
