ZIRO: Two Arunachalee entrepreneurs from Lower Subansiri district were recently honored with the Indo-Balinese Achievers Award in Bali, Indonesia.
Renowned social activist and progressive farmer Bamin Siri, Chairman of Ziro Poultry Cooperative Farmers Society Limited (ZPCFS) and Chairman of Ridge Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (RMCS) Michi Amung were honored for their outstanding achievements in the field of economic development. . Both of them were nominated for the global award by AEG from among many candidates in the field of economic activity from India.
The awards were presented by Indian Ambassador to Indonesia V B Soni along with Vice Consul, Office of the Consulate General of India Lawlesh Kumar and PRO Kuta, Indonesia Wayan Sukrata.
Explaining his contribution to economic activity and employment generation through ZPCFS in 1999 and subsequent awards to ZPCFS for its pioneering and pioneering socio-economic activities, Siri said that he has been involved in social work since 1999. And are active in entrepreneurship.
While he was the Secretary of ZPCFS, the State Government awarded him the Best Livestock Cooperative Society Award in 2007 and President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the Biennial Award for Cooperative Excellence to ZPCFS during the International Year 2012.
During the World Veterinary Day celebrations on 28 April 2012, the society was awarded the Best Livestock Cooperative Society for Poultry. During the 2016 State Day celebrations, ZPCFS was honored with the Dorjee Khandu Memorial Award for the Best Cooperative Society in the State.
Again, on April 23, 2022, ZPCFS received the Rashtriya Udyog Ratan Award from K. Sudhakaran, Union Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education in Bengaluru.
Siri said he always wanted to be an entrepreneur.
“I wanted to be a social engineer and bring innovations that would create jobs, improve the economic condition of our people and bring smiles to their families,” he said.
“Many research scholars from across the country come to see and learn how ZPCFS works,” he added.
Siri was the Vice Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Consumer Cooperative Federation Limited from 2018 to 2022 and is currently on its Board of Directors.
Amung, who won the award in the Cooperative Societies category, founded RMCS in 2018. The society provides training in the fields of livestock, agriculture, horticulture and handloom along with experts. It helps and guides the unemployed youth to benefit from various schemes sponsored by the Central and State Governments which are available under National Livelihood Mission and Atma Nirbhar Schemes.
The society is run by a board of seven directors with 30 primary members and five self-help groups. More than 100 households in Ziro Valley have benefited through RMCS.
RMCS was awarded Best Livestock Cooperative Society Award on Independence Day 2020 and Best Multipurpose Cooperative Society Award in Itanagar on Republic Day 2022.
