Elections in Mizoram is going to held on 7 November: ECI

Aizawl: The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for five states. According to the announcement of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, elections are going to be held in Mizoram on November 7. The election results of all the five states will be declared on December 3.
Apart from Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23, Telangana on November 30, while Chhattisgarh will go to polls in two phases on November 7 and November 17.
According to the Chief Election Commissioner, the term of the 40-seat assembly of Mizoram ends on December 17, where the Mizo National Front (MNF) government led by Chief Minister Zormathanga is currently in power. Assemblies of four other states are due to end on different dates in January next year.
Focusing on Mizoram, the state has 1,276 polling stations, of which 525 polling booths are in urban areas while 751 polling booths are in rural areas. The average number of voters per polling booth is 667. 95 of these polling booths are manned by women.
The total number of model polling booths is 40. Webcasting is available at 638 polling booths, which is 50 percent of all polling booths in the state. Meanwhile, polling booths managed by PWD are being kept at eleven.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has put the total number of voters in Mizoram at 8.52 lakh. Among them there are 4.13 lakh male voters and 4.39 lakh female voters. The number of first-time voters in Mizoram is reported to be 50,611.
Talking about the current composition in the state assembly, the MNF has 28 seats, while the main opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has six seats. Congress has five seats while BJP has only one seat.
