Tripura Election Rigging
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday fired his guns at the Left parties for calling him the chief minister of comical elections and alleged that it was the Left that introduced us to the term “rigging”.
Addressing a rally organized by the Tripura BJP regarding the recent increase in social pension, Dr Saha alleged that the opposition is trying to unite but they have already been defeated. “This huge crowd of mothers, sisters and my brothers has already raised the eyebrows of the CPIM. They are hiding their electoral defeat with excuses like election rigging. They (CPIM) are the people who have taken over the state. “Introduced rigging in Tripura. Left activists are the real founders of booth jamming in the state,” claimed Dr. Manik Saha.
Criticizing the previous government, Dr. Saha said that the current government is paying the price for the mistakes of the previous Left Front government.
“We are facing a debt burden of Rs 13,000 crore left behind by them. The problem of 10,323 retrenched teachers was created by them alone. And, now they are playing the victim card. This government has given government employees a party. Membership pressure has been relieved. Unlike the Left era, no government employee is forced to contribute to party funds. The difference between the previous government and us is that we are progressive. We think for development. Not for narrow political gain”, added Dr Saha.
Tripura Election Rigging Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma also criticized the Left and said that the social pension has been increased by Rs 100 less than during the Left government. They believe in the philosophy of protest, movement, rally while we believe in the philosophy of good governance for all. Whatever is left in the vision document will be consolidated before the next elections”, he said.
BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee has hinted that there may be a bumper hike in the salaries of civil servants ahead of the elections as dearness allowances may be released at par with the Centre.
