
During raid in Udalguri Huge cache of weapons recovered
Assam: Assam Police recovered a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition in Assam’s Udalguri district on May 3.
Acting on specific information, the Udalguri police conducted a raid this morning and recovered a large cache of weapons.
Informing about the recovery, Director General of Police GP Singh tweeted, “Huge quantity of arms recovered by @udalguripolice. We are committed to rid Assam of all illegal arms.
However, the number of people arrested in connection with the seizure is yet to be known.
A man was detained on April 30 with illegal weapons and ammunition. The police, with the combined efforts of the locals, found a way to trap and nab the man. The arrested person has been identified as Aminul Islam.
Aminul was on his way to Silapathar from Arunachal Pradesh when he was caught. When he alighted from one bus and was about to board another in the direction of Silapathar, he was allegedly detained. One SBBL rifle was found with the arrested person. The rifle was to be transported from Nawboicha in Lakhimpur.
