During property dispute brother kills his brother in Agartala

Agartala: A 45-year-old man was killed after a property dispute turned ugly in Tripura’s Dhalai district. The deceased, identified as Satyabrata Chowdhury, sustained severe head injuries when his brothers attacked him with shovels and rods.
Immediately after the incident, the deceased was shifted to Dhalai District Hospital in Kulai. Doctors on duty referred him to GBP Hospital in Agartala due to deteriorating health. According to the family, he succumbed to his injuries at 9:30 pm.
Speaking on the matter, the victim’s mother-in-law said, “Last night, a meeting was held at their house to resolve the long-standing dispute over ancestral land now owned by their mother.
The victim’s mother was living with the younger brother for the past three months. We know that she was suffering immense torture at the hands of her brothers. The meeting was called to resolve family complications but the meeting took an ugly turn.
According to him, when Satyabrata asked why his brothers were torturing his mother, the younger brother Mithu Chowdhury attacked him. “His elder brother Subrata Chowdhury, who was also present in the meeting, did not take any steps to stop the angry younger brother.
Repeated blows of shovels and rods caused severe injuries which later led to his death”, he said, adding that he has registered a police case in the matter.
