Guwahati: At least seven flights were canceled on Wednesday due to poor visibility and inclement weather in the Northeast, a senior Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said.
Flights from Guwahati to Tezu and Tezu to Guwahati were canceled due to low visibility, especially over Guwahati skies, the official told PTI.
“Tezhu-Imphal flight was canceled due to poor visibility. All three flights are operated by FlyBig Airlines.
Due to bad weather, Tezpur-Guwahati and Guwahati-Tezpur services of Pawan Hans were cancelled, the officer said.
“Alliance Air’s Guwahati-Dimapur-Imphal and return Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati flight was also canceled during the day,” he said.
Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) scientist Sanjay O’Neill Shaw said that weather conditions and visibility are likely to improve in the next 2-3 days.
Guwahati will have a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle expected on Thursday. The same will happen on Friday,” he added.
An AAI official, who controls the air traffic control (ATC) at Guwahati, said the minimum visibility at the airport is 1,300 meters for a flight to land, while it is 300-350 meters for take-off.
