
Amid polls in Meghalaya, Narcotics worth of Rs. 6cr captured
Aizawl: Acting on specific information, the Mizoram police on Wednesday seized 1.74 kg of heroin worth over Rs 8.7 crore in Langley district of the southern part of the state, the police said in a statement.
It said the operation was carried out by a team from the Langley District Special Branch (DSB) in the area between Tlawng Bridge and Pukpui.
The team seized drugs worth crores of rupees. 8.73 crore from the possession of two peddlers from Champhai in the eastern part of the state, it said.
A case was registered against them under the relevant section of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
The statement further said that the two accused were accompanied by a minor, who was also booked under Section 78 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
