Doctors to stop private practice within one month, Nagaland govt

Kohima: The Government of Nagaland has directed the Nagaland doctors engaged in private practice in their hospitals or in partnership with any other hospital to close their private hospitals whether or not receiving Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA). Get. – Join such partnership within one month.
This directive is effective from the date of issue of the Office Memorandum on 1 August 2023.
Announcing the memorandum of the office of the Department of Health and Family Welfare at the Secretariat Conference Hall in Kohima on Monday, Commissioner and Secretary of the Department Y Kikheto Sema said that in the office memorandum private practice of government doctors and NPA managed by the Finance Department. Matters related to Notifications and related instructions are issued from time to time.
Sema said that it has been observed that in many cases these instructions are not being followed. He further said that the issue has also been viewed negatively by the Nagaland Lokayukta.
In-service government doctors availing NPA and engaged in private practice in private hospitals/clinics have been directed to either stop private practice or withdraw within one month from the date of issue of the office memorandum. Leave your NPA inside.
According to the office memorandum, serving government doctors who are not availing NPA may be allowed to provide private consultation and services to needy patients during non-working hours strictly with prior approval of competent authority.
All private hospitals, clinics and nursing homes have also been directed not to engage any government doctors, nurses, technicians and health workers in their establishments. Failure to comply will result in cancellation of their licences, the office memorandum said.
Sema said that it has come to the notice of the government that some in-service government doctors/health workers are working irregularly at their place of posting, leading to disruption of healthcare delivery in their respective health units. The system is affected.
The department reiterated that in case of absence from the place of posting without proper leave sanction from the competent authority, action will be initiated as per Nagaland Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1968, and Nagaland Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1967.
Sema also announced changes in OPD timings in all state government health units under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
The OPD timings are fixed from 10 August 2023 to 8.30 am to 2.30 pm to 9 am to 3 pm.
