Dimapur: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC have been lifted in Dhansiripar sub-division of Dimapur district and Longelng town of Nagaland after the law and order situation improved in these areas.
In an order on Saturday, Dimapur Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie said that the prohibitory order imposed on February 24 in Dhansiri sub-division has been revoked after he was satisfied that the law and order situation would be restored after the Nagaland Assembly elections 2023. The division has improved and is back to normal.
District Magistrate of Longelng, Dharam Raj, issued a fine under Section 144 CrPC for movement and illegal assembly of more than five persons for 72 hours from the afternoon of March 3 to the afternoon of March 6 within the administrative jurisdiction of Longleng city. Prohibitory order imposed.
In an order on Saturday, Raj said that according to reports from security agencies, peace and tranquility has been restored in the city after the elections were held.
The order said that there does not appear to be any serious threat to peace and tranquility, lives and property of the people within the city.
He said the curfew has not been extended further in the town as normal life has resumed.
