Guwahati: Investigations have revealed that the General Science question paper of Class 10 state board examination in Assam was sold on WhatsApp for up to Rs 3,000, Director General of Police Gyanendra Pratap Singh said on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Singh said that the help of WhatsApp is being taken to identify the origin of the question paper leak.
“Investigations have revealed that the question papers of the General Science exam were sold between Rs 100 and Rs 3,000. We found that somewhere it sold for Rs 100, somewhere Rs 200-300, and it went up to Rs 3000. Help is being sought from WhatsApp to identify the origin of the leak,” he said.
“I am happy with the investigation and progress made in the last three days. Hope we will finish this case soon. We will send some more packets of question papers from Upper Assam to CID headquarters for investigation purpose. .
The General Science question paper of the Class 10 matric examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) was leaked on Sunday night, and the examination scheduled for Monday was cancelled.
The state CID, which is investigating the case, has so far arrested 25 people, including children, from different parts of Assam, besides questioning several others to identify the source of the leak. .
A senior official said the operation will continue till the mastermind is arrested.
“We have picked up a few more people and are interrogating them,” he said.
According to a SEBA notification, the canceled exam will now be held on March 30.
