Delay in BTR accord implementation, ABSU accuses BJP Govt

Guwahati: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) has reportedly expressed strong concerns over the Assam government’s slow pace in implementing the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Accord.

The organisation claimed that there were deliberate delays and exclusions.

The organisation called for immediate action to fulfil the Accord’s provisions.

They claimed that the government failed to include 664 villages in the BTR, despite adding 60 new villages recently.

They also stressed the importance of Clause 5.1, which calls for the delimitation and inclusion of Bodo-dominated areas and the establishment of the Boro-Kachari Welfare and Development Council (Autonomous) with 36 constituencies.

ABSU criticized the government for excluding them and the United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) from a crucial meeting on February 28, which focused on 31 constituencies instead of the agreed 36.
