Crack in Nagaland government? Important portfolios lost, Deputy Chief Minister rejects new ‘assignment’

With less than a year to go before the Assembly elections in Nagaland, it seems that a rift is beginning to form within the top echelons of the state government.
Only days subsequent to grabbing a key portfolio, Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister and the state’s top BJP pioneer Y. Patton has turned down a new ‘task’.
Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton has refused to accept Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s offer for the portfolio of the Land Resources Department.
Earlier, the portfolio of roads and bridges was snatched from the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y. Patten.
While denying the new portfolio, Patton, however, assured support and commitment to the NDPP-led government in the state of BJP MLAs in Nagaland.
It is noteworthy that with the new elections to the State Legislative Assembly in Nagaland in 2023, political activities are gaining momentum.
