Dimapur: Congress media coordinator Mahima Singh on Friday said that the Kashmir model of Operation lotus in Nagaland will lead to the abrogation of Article 371 (A) which grants special status to the state.
Addressing the media at the Congress Bhavan here, Singh tried to point out that the BJP broke away from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir and pushed for the unconstitutional abrogation of Article 370.
She said that the state is now deprived of its statehood and its people are deprived of their special status. Citing the examples of the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir and the National People’s Party in Meghalaya, she said the BJP had dumped those who were responsible for its existence.
She said that the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is going to meet the same fate as the PDP in Kashmir since the Enforcement Directorate reached the Chief Minister’s office in 2022, the people of Nagaland. taking them to “punishment boxes”. Strict laws like Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
“While the corruption-ridden Rio government has shown the way for Operation Lotus and the BJP’s Hindu Rashtra project, the chief minister has become disenchanted with the BJP,” the Congress leader said.
She said that BJP will take oath on UCC in 2024 general elections in willful ignorance of the unique identity of 17 Naga tribes out of total 705 recognized tribes in the country.
According to her, with a strict CAA, along with NRC, the innocent people of Nagaland will be displaced as they might not be able to show the documents that the saffron party is asking for.
Singh quoted Naga People’s Front president and former chief minister Surhozelie Liezietsu as saying that “there are elements very hard and furiously trying their best to pierce the trident at the center of Christ”.
She asked Rio if he would allow the BJP’s commitment to the Hindu nation to be pierced by the unique culture of the Nagas or would he talk.
Also, asking whether Nagas would allow “politics of slogans” to dominate “politics of indigenous rights”, Singh questioned, “Will the voters of Nagaland accept the politics of polarization, hate and Hinduization of their cultures?” will stand against.”
“Will the Nagas stand up for their origin and culture to oust a weak government that is weakening them,” she further asked.
